David Suchet OBE
Born in London in 1946 David went on from school to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. In 1973 he became a company member of the Royal Shakespeare Company playing Iago in Othello, Tybalt in Romeo & Juliet and Caliban in The Tempest.
One of David’s first leading roles was as Blott in Blott on the Landscape with George Cole, Geraldine James and Simon Cadell.
Over the years he has been nominated for and won several awards for Best Actor including his stage roles in Oleanna and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.
Recent roles include the Deputy Prime Minister in ITV’s disaster film Flood, a club owner in the 2008 film The Bank Job and Cardinal Giovanni Benelli in the play The Last Confession.
But of course David is best known and loved for his portrayal of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, a role he has made his own since he took it on in 1989.
