Schools Outreach

To find out why our work is so important please have a look at ‘The Need’ section of this site - there you will find case studies and evidence of the impact our pastoral care workers have had on the children under their care.

If you would like to help us continue our work there are a number of ways in which you can get involved. This section of the website looks at how to donate, volunteer your services or even raise funds at no cost to yourself. For the latest news and how you can contribute to a ‘book of remembrance’ on our work please visit the ‘News’ section of the site.

Core Funding:

Schools Outreach is funded in a variety of ways. Each pastoral care project has a separate account - funding for projects usually comes from several sources - the school, the local authority and grant making trusts. In an effort to keep project costs to a minimum we only add a small proportion of our management and support costs to the project bids. We have to raise the remaining ‘core funding’ through other sources.

‘Core funding’ includes H.Q. staff and Staff Carers’ salaries, the administration of our existing projects in England and Wales, together with the care and support of our school-based Pastoral Care Specialists.

Each of our Pastoral Care Specialists has funding committed to provide for his or her salary, unlike those of us who are responsible for their regular pastoral care, personal support, in-service training and administration. We take our responsibilities seriously and know that we must provide ongoing caring support so long as the workers’ own financial needs are being sustained. The two part-time Staff Carers visit our workers monthly – a pastoral care specialist’s pastoral care specialist if you like! They are also always available for advice and support over the telephone; as those of us at H.Q. are.

The two full-time office staff oversee the day-to-day management of Schools Outreach, as well as being involved in fundraising, marketing, accounting, ongoing training and the legal requirements placed on registered charities and companies.
